Regional Advisory Councils

We audit the largest RAC, Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council (SETRAC), which services a nine county area surrounding Houston.

Regional Advisory Councils (RACs) are organized under the authority of the Texas Department of Health which was established by the 1989 Omnibus Rural Health Care Rescue Act. There are 22 RACs currently functioning within the State of Texas and are separately established as 501(c)3 nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations. The primary function of RACs is to provide stakeholder support through planning, facilitation, operations and the provision of technical assistance to the region for preparedness, trauma, injury prevention, stroke, cardiac and pediatric services.
