The Green Book is Here!


The great thing about being in governmental accounting is we try to make very complex topics seem simple by just giving a book a nickname for the color of its cover.  The Blue Book remains the bible for governmental accounting and reporting and the Yellow Book, originally printed with a yellow cover, but it actually hasn’t been available in a hard back for year.  The GAO issued the Green Book on September 10, 2014. The Green Book is formally titled the Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government.  This is actually just the 2013 version of the COSO model converted into government terms.  Don’t letter the word Government fool you, the Green book will now be the go to guide for local governments.  Here is a link to the 2014 Green Book:
